Sarah Gregorios, M.S. – Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern

Masters in Counseling Psychology - California Baptist University

Meet Sarah

Sarah brings a warm, compassionate approach to therapy, specializing in helping children, teens, and young adults navigate emotional and behavioral challenges. With a master's in Counseling Psychology and diverse experience in schools and counseling centers, Sarah is supported by our senior clinicians to ensure personalized, thoughtful care for every client.

From an early age, I was the person friends and family turned to when they needed support. I found great fulfillment in being a compassionate listener, helping others feel heard and understood without judgment. This natural empathy inspired me to pursue a degree in psychology, where I became fascinated by how the brain and behavior shape our thoughts, emotions, and decision-making processes. As an undergraduate, my curiosity about mental illness deepened, leading me to pursue a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy.

During my training, I completed a practicum at a counseling center in Berkley, California, where I worked with a diverse range of clients. I helped teens and adults recovering from substance abuse and supported college students managing anxiety and life stress. After earning my degree, I continued to develop my skills at a counseling center in Riverside, California. There, I provided counseling to couples, helping them rebuild trust, improve communication, and strengthen their relationships. I also worked with adolescents facing family conflict, guiding them through challenging dynamics.

I’ve always been driven by a deep desire to help others, particularly those who feel unheard. Even as a child, I was the friend people turned to when they needed someone to listen, and I quickly realized how fulfilling it was to support others in their journey toward becoming the best versions of themselves. This passion inspired me to study psychology, where my interest in family dynamics and mental health continued to grow.

I chose marriage and family therapy because I strongly believe that our relationships play a crucial role in shaping our emotional well-being. My experience working with couples to rebuild trust and improve communication, as well as supporting adolescents through family conflict, further solidified my belief in the power of healthy, supportive relationships. Helping children and teens find their voice, while guiding families through their challenges, is what inspires me every day to continue this work.

I understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially for children and teens. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where they can express themselves openly and learn to communicate more effectively, both in and outside of therapy. Parents can feel confident that their child is in good hands with me, as I take a gentle and empathetic approach, while also keeping parents informed about the progress we’re making. I believe in working collaboratively with parents, integrating their concerns into the therapy process to ensure we’re all on the same page. If ever there are questions or uncertainties about the therapy process, I encourage open communication to address any concerns.

My primary approach is to create a non-judgmental space where blame is set aside, allowing each person to share their concerns and experiences openly. This environment fosters honest communication and helps uncover the root of the issues at hand. I am currently in training to become an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (EFT), and I am excited to bring this approach to my clients. EFT focuses on identifying and reshaping emotional responses, helping couples build a stronger emotional bond. Research shows that EFT can significantly improve relationship satisfaction, enhance communication, and foster a deeper understanding of each other’s needs, leading to lasting positive change in their relationship.
