Biography
Candice Forrest is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has been providing psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, and families for more than a decade. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in French from Florida International University, she went on to complete her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Florida International University. Candice provides therapy in both English and Spanish and is a Florida Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns.
Throughout her career, Candice has gained experience across a variety of clinical settings, including private practice, community mental health, and hospital psychiatric services. Her clinical experience includes helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, family conflict, life transitions, behavioral challenges, substance use concerns, mood disorders, and other mental health conditions. In addition to her outpatient experience, Candice has spent several years performing psychiatric assessments in a hospital setting, where she works primarily with adults and older adults experiencing emotional crises, behavioral changes, and complex mental health concerns. This broad clinical background has provided her with extensive experience working with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and personal backgrounds.
Candice’s therapeutic approach is grounded primarily in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Reality Therapy, while incorporating elements of Functional Family Therapy when clinically appropriate. She believes therapy should be collaborative, practical, and individualized to each client’s needs. Rather than applying the same approach to everyone, Candice works closely with clients to understand their goals, identify barriers to change, and develop realistic strategies for moving forward.
Candice especially enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, and families as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions. She believes meaningful change occurs when clients feel both supported and appropriately challenged throughout the therapeutic process. Her goal is to provide a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring difficult experiences while developing the skills and confidence needed to create lasting change.
Candice understands that one of the most important factors in successful therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. She is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves, discussing difficult experiences, and working toward meaningful change. Whether someone is seeking therapy for the first time or returning after previous counseling, Candice strives to help each client feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.
